Modelling seasonal variation of gully erosion at the catchment scale

چکیده

Geo-hydrological phenomena, including gullies, contribute significantly to soil erosion and land degradation. To address this, proper management of basins hillslopes should consider the mechanism, timing, location gully development how gullies interact with other hillslope processes. Yet, conventional modelling techniques for such processes are rare, frequently being limited applications only single typically requiring high-resolution input data. Further, existing tools characterizing tend be based on static descriptions geo-environmental conditions, thus not effective changes as seasonal triggering conditions phenomena over time. This study proposes a method integrate open remote sensing data (Sentinel-2) an tool (LANDPLANER) using simplified better predict forecast gullies’ spatial temporal occurrence. The investigates responsible at catchment scale different schema in Toscana region Central Italy. Geomorphological inventory were collected used benchmarks test proposed approach. results show that occurrence studied seasonally, was able effectively discriminate differences phenomena. can applied similar regions worldwide, allowing investigation time, even places availability.

Gully Erosion after Wildfire

Predicting runoff and erosion from watersheds burned by wildfires requires an understanding of the spatial structure of both hillslope and channel drainage networks. We investigate the small-scale and large-scale structures of drainage networks using field studies and computer analysis of 30-m digital elevation model. Topologic variables were derived from a composite 30-m DEM, which included 14...

Integrated Water Allocation-Economic Modelling at a Catchment Scale

Rapid economic and population growth has led to increased demand for water from the industrial and domestic sectors and put pressure on resources available for agricultural production. With growing scarcity and increasing inter-sectorial competition for water the need for efficient and sustainable water allocation policies has also become more important. Finding ways to meet this growing demand...

The Gully Erosion Effect On the Environment

The paper contains data about the destructive effects of gully erosion on the environment. It provides general information about the gully erosion in several countries around the world including Romania and is considered a case study for a river basin located in the Semenic Mountains (Bârzava drainage area). The case study is based on the following assumptions: the presence of different types o...
